I just saw a pretty pristine XV20 Camry, which is not weird at all until you consider that it has probably been a couple years since I've seen one.
Now, I know what you're thinking - that's impossible. Or is it? I don't catalogue every car I see, as that would be actually impossible, but like all of you I notice the make and model of everything, even cars in traffic or at a glance. I never just see "a car," so when it's something unique or unusual I instantly notice. It's almost an involuntary reaction, my mind cancels out everything else and just goes "Hey look."
Living in New York, this is usually triggered by a supercar rumbling through midtown or a street-parked classic on the Upper West Side, so I was kind of shocked when I walked passed this Camry and felt that "hey look" feeling. It helped that it was in excellent condition (no pic bc black car at night), but still. I don't think it's a false positive. The first thing that came to mind was that it had been a while.
Strange, man.

I do pretty much the same. I work a few blocks away from the UN so I've become numb to all the S Classes but when I see something interesting like an Aston or even a Focus ST/Fiesta ST (which is rare) I go ooh!
My gf thinks I'm nuts when I go "look look!" at a red and black R8 or when I want to stop and take a picture of a Scuderia that's just driving around the Bronx (where no supercars exist) like no big deal.
